Canyonlands Half Marathon/ Moab

A couple of weekends ago a group of girls and I went to Moab to run a half marathon. Somehow these group of girls talked me into running it! (I've never been good with peer pressure) I have never been a runner, I never enjoyed running growing up until last summer a few friends of mine ran a couple 5K's and a 10K. I guess we decided to challenge ourselves a little more and do a half. I actually quite enjoy running now. We had a great time, although after running the race I thought I wouldn't do it again, but like having a baby you forget so I am thinking about signing up for one in Logan this August!!
Jen and Stacey preparing for the race! Yes Stacey is rolling Jen's calf with a rolling pin! I love it!

Melinda had these cute shirts embroidered for us. The front says Sole Mates!

Here are a few pictures from the race!

Total fake smiles! I had only 1-2 miles left!
Race Time: 2:15:03
After the race!

I had an awesome support system! I forgot to mention that when I told my husband I was going to Moab with some girls he totally invited himself saying he wouldn't bug me at all he just wanted to come and mountain bike! I'm sure he really wanted to see if his wife could actually finish the race! I was glad he ended up coming it was a lot of fun and so fun to have him cheering me on. I cannot forget Joni and Joseph and how great they were for coming to cheer us all on.
Thanks to my parents for watching the kids! I know how much fun the kids have spending time with them. (Even though Allie was ready to see her mom when we got home) Kaden drew this picture for me while I was gone, which I get a huge kick out of! If you can't read it, it is a drawing of me running saying 'I'm Tired!' and then a picture of Jaren saying 'Come on honey, you are the one who signed up!'
A few memorable moments from our trip:

*Jen diving into a 3 foot pool and scraping up her chin! OUCH!
*Hiding Burger King food in our purses and taking it into the movie theater. Do you really think no one could smell that?
*Joseph and all the Walton family stories... Man, I sure wish Syracuse had a grocery store that clearanced their doughnuts!
*An unsuspecting GOTCHA!
*Two very unrestful nights (snore, snore) No names mentioned.
*Has anyone ever heard of a nine hour drive to Moab? Maybe to visit Ghost Rock.....

Good job Nat! I took the liberty of looking up your time since you didn't mention it on your blog :) You need to come run with me, we run about the same pace and I need some serious motivation right now. Looks fun, I wish I would have registered for that one in time :(

What a great post. Kudos for finishing the half marathon (fake smiles and all)!! I love Kaden's picture. It sounds exactly like a conversation you and Jer would have :). See you out running!

This was such a fun trip! You are totally my inspiration for the half marathon in August!!!
And I'm sure no one could smell the Burger King in our purses. We were totally sneaky!!! And I'm glad Jaren was there to take all the great pictures he did!
