Bear Lake July 2009

Who doesn't love Bear Lake in the summer? The kids and I were able to go up for almost a week. The first few days were spent with my mom and dad, my brother Kevin and his wife Shannon, and their daughter Hailey. They left Thursday and then Jaren and the Walton Family came up until Sunday. We had fun boating, swimming, playing on the beach, eating shakes, and playing games. What more could you ask for? Here are some pictures from our trip....

My dad loves his skis! The funnest memory of my dad that I will always remember are his parabolic skis and his big grin as he waterskis!

Kevin catching some air! Kaden was pretty impressed!

Ragnar Relay/ Wasatch Back

Jaren and I ran Ragnar/Wasatch Back a couple of weeks ago. That is a relay race from Logan to Park City for a total of 188 miles! We were on a team of 12 people from our neighborhood. We had a blast, and have already registered for next years race, and are thinking of other ones that we can do.... We were on Team #1 so we started the race up in Logan. Jaren was first to run which his first leg was 5 miles. Well let me fill you in on Jaren.... he absolutely hates running. I sort of signed him up because I thought it would be fun to do together. As it started getting closer, I started feeling guilty because I knew he did not want to train for the race. Well, once a week he would run 5 miles for maybe a month or two then he ran 9 miles ONE time. Jaren did awesome and ran around a 7 minute mile pace, including his second leg with was over Trappers Loop, 8.5 miles long. I am guessing with all his mountain biking and playing basketball 3 times a week must be keeping him in shape. I really think if he got into running he would do GREAT! Anyway back to our run. I ran second which was a total of 7 miles. Jaren and I chose to be runner 1 and 2 because we thought it would be fun to run through our home towns...(Well MY home town). It was definitely nice to get it done at the beginning then we could relax and enjoy watching the rest of our team run. Jaren's second leg was his hardest, not only being a warmer part of the day it was over Trappers Loop. He ran 1-2 miles up hill then 7 miles down hill. Of course he did awesome... He is very competitive so his goal was to not let anyone pass him. My second leg was only 3 miles long, but for some reason it seemed my hardest. I think it was the heat. Our last legs which we started around 4:30 AM were nice and easy. Jaren ran 5 miles, and I ran 3.3 miles. It was definitely hard getting up after our 3 hours of sleep and thinking about running was just CRAZY! But once we started it was fine.

Here are some pictures from our race......
